Date of Birth: Monday, 7th September 1987
At eighteen, Ben Crawley has done a feast of things as part of Libera that demonstrate the hard work and commitment maintained whilst being a Libera choirboy.
Ben joined Libera at an exciting time when the new public face of the choir was starting to emerge. Over the next few years Ben was largely involved in an array of television appearances. For the
later part of this era, Ben still had the time to be Libera's main soloist and appeared notably on the most recent two of Libera's albums - Luminosa (2001) and Free (2004).
Succeeding such greats as Adam Harris and Liam O'Kane, Ben shared the role of principle soloist with Steven Geraghty and together they created vocal wizardry, both individually and as a pair, on the CD Luminosa. In the space of a couple of years after Luminosa's birth, Ben's musicality matured even further from the enchantment of his first recorded solos to produce the likes of such jewels as "I am the Day", "Twilight" and "Do Not Stand at My Grave", all tracks on the Free CD.
Ben has also featured with Aled Jones on two of Aled's adult albums, one of which included a beautiful rendition of "Nunc Dimittis". As well as a multitude of soundtrack recordings as part of the chorus, Ben has followed in the footsteps of past Libera members by recording a solo track for a movie - The Merchant of Venice.
In addition to his work with Libera, Ben sang the lead part of Kay on Paul K Joyce's CD The Snow Queen which was released in 2004. Most recently Ben returned home from Libera's first overseas tour to Asia in March-April where he was a very popular figure amongst the fans. It seems that, after his success as a treble, Ben will continue to create something special as a tenor/bass.
